The first time I saw this movie my older brother made me watch it. I was probably eight, and now that i look back at it I was not the appropriate age to see such an elaborate movie. Nonetheless, I enjoyed it to what my young mind could take in.
I remember thinking that my dad would come home with an axe and kill me! Of course, that is highly unlikely. But even at that age, I very rarely got scared. And for a movie to make me feel that paranoid is amazing. It is a vivid brilliance I cannot stress enough.
The characters were fantastic. The directing was beautiful. I can honestly say that I will never find a film as entertaining and gripping as The Shining.
Kubrick was a genius. He made me feel as if I was there. I felt as if my real life was non-existent, and the movie was my life.
Kubrick's film is much better that Kings adaptation to his own novel, which, must be very difficult to accomplish.
